Evangelisation takes place in obedience to the missionary mandate of Jesus:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations...” - Matthew 28:19.
“The Church exists in order to evangelise.” - Pope Paul VI, 1975
“The new evangelisation is a summons addressed to all.” - Synod of Bishops, 2012
||“The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus. I wish to encourage the Christian faithful to embark upon a new chapter of evangelisation marked by this joy, while pointing out new paths for the Church's journey in years to come.” - Pope Francis, "Evangelii Gaudium - The Joy of the Gospel", 2013
|In his homily at the 2015 Chrism Mass, Bishop Peter said:
“A further responsibility of Christ’s anointed people is that we are missionaries, called to proclaim the joy of the Gospel. To help us to be more outward looking, the Bishops have launched a new initiative called “Proclaim 15” to encourage and equip our parishes to be missionary. There is a national conference in July and there are resources which I know are being used in parishes to discover new ways of bringing people to Christ. Of course, that begins with meeting Jesus in our prayer, in the sacraments, and in one another, learning from Jesus, and then telling friends about Jesus.”
