27th December - RIP Fr Brian Godden, ordained 1957, former parish priest of St Ethelbert's in Slough from 1993 until his retirement in 2005, who has passed away on this date. His funeral was on Monday 11th January at St Ethelbert's, and the church was packed out, even on a snowy weekday. Canon Norman Smith spoke eloquently on how Fr Brian's life exemplified the virtues of the ordained minsterial priesthood.

4th December - Rt. Rev. Kevin McDonald, Archbishop of Southwark, who was our Bishop between May 2001 and Dec. 2003, has resigned from his post. "The Archbishop submitted his resignation to the Holy Father having taken account of medical advice. He has had a triple heart bypass and also suffers from severe osteoarthritis. This has already necessitated surgery and the Archbishop envisages further surgery in 2010." (Southwark website).  Auxiliiary Bishop John Hine has been appointed as Diocesan Administrator. Please keep Archbishop Kevin and that Archdiocese in your prayers.

24th November. RIP Canon Dan Cronin, ordained in 1942, who served as a parish priest in Bedford and Corby, retiring in 1992. His funeral has taken place and there was a Memorial Mass at St Brendan's, Corby, on Monday 14th December.

11th November. The Bishop has appointed two new Trustees for the Diocese, who will also be members of the Finance Board. They are Hugh Davies, from Sacred Heart parish in Flitwick, the founder-drector of a project management company, and Charles Whitehead, from St Josephs Gerrards Cross, a well-known international figure in Catholic Renewal.
