News items from July & August 2012 Minimize

21st August. The following moves and changes have been announced :

Fr Eamon Murray is taking early retirement on medical advice. Ordained in 2001, he served as Assistant Priest at St Augustine's, High Wycombe, in charge of its churches at Hazlemere and Downley, until 2004, when he went as Parish Priest to St Margarets in Luton for seven years. and then to Biggleswade last year.

He is replaced by Fr Richard Moroney who moves from St Anthony's, Farnham Royal after sixteen years there

Fr Joseph Pham moves to St Anthony's from Our Lady of Lourdes, Aylesbury. after seven years there.

Fr Jude Iroh MSP, who has been assistant priest at Blessed John Henry Newman parish in High Wycombe, becomes priest-in-charge at Our Lady of Lourdes.

These changes willl take effect from 22nd October.

Fr Peter Ha, who is assisting at the Cathedral, has been given permission by his Vietnamese diocese to remain there another year.

Fr Andrzej Neblik will be spending six months assisting at Our Lady of Walsingham, Corby, in preparation for hs ministry with the Polish Mission in England.

Fr Jan Migacz, a Polish Marian Father, will be helping at St Edward's, Kettering, until next June.


Our Lady of Peace, Burnham5th August. Bishop Peter has written to the parish of Our Lady of Peace, Burnham, as follows:- "I am writing to let you know that it is becoming clear that Father David Barrett will be unable to return to the parish for some time. In the light of this, I have decided to appoint Father Andy Richardson as Priest-in-Charge of the Parish for the time being. Since his ordination to the priesthood in June 2008, Father Andy has served as the Assistant Priest in St Edward’s Parish, Kettering. With the support of the Dean of Slough Pastoral Area, Canon Kevin O’Driscoll, Father Andy will begin serving the parish on the weekend of 8th/9th September. Please keep Father David and Father Andy in your prayers" Fr David had notified the parish a few weeks ago that he was taking some time off for health reasons. Fr Peter Groody is supplying from 17th to 27th August.


12th July. Bishop Peter has made the following clergy news announcements:
Monsignor Anthony McDermott will, on health grounds, be stepping down as Parish Priest of St Aidan’s, Northampton, "where he has served the community for 24 years, and from his roles as Trustee, Consultor and Amicus Clero. I want to express my thanks to him for his considerable contribution to the life and work of the Diocese and for his involvement with the St Francis Children’s Society in earlier days. After a period of recuperation, he hopes to be an active supply in parishes around the Diocese." Mgr Paul Donovan, a priest of the Diocese who has been serving for 26 years as a Naval Chaplain, will become parish priest of St Aidan's from 10th September.
Fr John Fleming of Guardian Angels, Aylesbury, is retiring as Chaplain at Aylesbury Young Offenders' Institution.


Mgr Philip Egan11th July. The Vatican has announced the name of a new Bishop for Portmouth Diocese, our southern neighbour across the Thames. Mgr Philip Egan, Vicar-General of Shrewsbury Diocese, will succeed Bishop Crispian Hollis, who has reached retirement age and is also very ill with bowel cancer.


Olympic torch in Buckingham8th-10th July. On these dates the Olympic Torch passed through Bedford, Luton, Dunstable,Milton Keynes, Bletchley, Buckingham, Winslow, Aylesbury, Bisham near Marlow and Slough.


2nd July. The OlympicTorch passed through Northampton, Wellingborough, Kettering and Corby on this day.
