Benedetto d'Autilia kneeling before the Bishop

29th November. Benedetto D'Autilia, from St Aidan's in Northampton and also a member of the Vocationist order, is one of our seminarians in training for the priesthood;  on this day he was ordained to the transitional Diaconate by Bishop Peter at Oscott College, Birmingham. His ordination as a priest is set for 1st August 2015.


23rd November - Bishop Peter has informed the Diocese that he will be one of the England & Wales Bishops attending the international Synod on Family Life next October. This is the conference for which the recent  "Extraordinary" or preparatory session attracted a lot of media attention.

With effect from this weekend, Mass times in the Northampton North and East Pastoral Area were changed. 

At Our Lady's, Wellingborough, the 6pm Vigil Mass continues but will be celebrated by priests of the Ordinariate: once a month it will be a special Ordinariate Mass. Sunday Mass is 9am

At St Edmund Campion, Welingborough, the Sunday morning Mass moves from 10:30 to 10:45. Evening Mass still 17:30. 

At St Peter's, Rushden, the 9am and 10:30 morning Masses become a single 11am Mass. The 18:30 Vigil Mass continues. 

At Our Lady's, Great Billing, the 10:30 Mass moves to 11:30. The 8am Mass continues.

At St Gregory's, Northampton, the 6pm Vigil Mass ceases. Sundays 09:00 and 11:00 continue. 

At St Anselm, Earls Barton, the fortnightly Ordinariate Vigil Mass at 6pm ceases. 

At St Hubert's, Great Harrowden, the monthly last-Sunday Mass is now fixed at 11am. 


6th October - Fr Rafal Jaroslwaski, who has been serving the Polish community in High Wycombe and the area, has moved to become Parish Priest and Dean for the Polish Catholic Mission in SW England, based at Reading. He is replaced at High Wycombe by Fr Andrew Neblik, who was at Hammersmith. .


Monsignor Graham Adams

20th September - RIP Monsignor Graham Adams, who went to the Lord in the early hours, having just moved into a nursing home at Banbury. His Requiem Mass was at St Johns Church, South Bar Street, Banbury, OX16 9AF, on Friday, 26th September.  

Graham Adams was ordained in 1965 and served at Beaconsfield, the Cathedral, and Lowestoft, followed by four years as an RAF Chaplain. For many years he ran the Diocesan Tribunal, and was also Treasurer and President of the Sick Clergy Fund. From 1981 until retirement in 2009 he was parish priest at Aston-le-Walls. May he rest in peace. 


Fr William Strain receives a photo book from Mr Frank Govan

1st September. Fr William Strain retired today, leaving St Augustine's parish in High Wycombe, where he has been parish priest for 36 years - the "longest-in-one-place" in the Diocese. A packed church bade farewell to him on Friday evening. Ordained in 1963, Fr Strain served first at St George's Norwich, then at St Joseph's in Bedford, St Patrick's in Corby, and St Peter's Marlow 1973-78 before moving to High Wycombe. He is returning to his native Donegal.  


This weekend has also seen Fr Michael Harrison celebrating his last Mass at St Anthony's, Farnham Royal, from where he now moves to Our Lady's at Corby. Fr Nicholas Nwanzi, from the Diocese of Enugu in Nigeria, takes over at Farnham Royal. 

Meanwhile, over at St Alban's Chapel,  Winslow, Fr Anton Webb of the Oxford Oratory arrives this week to take up residence and say Mass there while he is undertaking prison chaplaincy work.  


4th August - Fr. Graham Platt has retired from active ministry on health advice. Weekend English-language Masses at Chesham Bois during August will be said by Fr Bruce Burbidge, an East Anglian priest currently lecturing in Rome, with Bishop Peter visiting the parish on 30th/31st August, after which Fr Andrew Ollard takes over. 

At Gerrards Cross, Fr John McGowan OCD has celebrated his final Masses and Fr Michael Spain arrives as Prior and Parish Priest on 7th August.
