Forming Evangelisers Minimize

In the Gospels we see Jesus Christ not only calling his followers to share the Good News but also forming them for this task. There are many opportunities in the Church today to be formed and receive training in evangelisation.

The Diocesan Evangelisation Team offer training events in evangelisation which are publicised in this section as well as in NORES publicity, such as the newsletter "NORES News" which is sent to parishes and schools and also available via the NORES website . We also have a mailing list for those interested in evangelisation. If you would like to be kept informed of upcoming events via e-mail or post, please get in touch via the ‘Contact Details’ section. You can also be removed from his list at any time by contacting us.

Please also see below for details of events that are coming up in the near future.

The Third Annual Diocesan Evangelisation Day. took place on 6th March 2010.  Report below . . . .

Steve Murray, mime artist"Around 60 people gathered at St Joseph’s Parish Church in Chalfont St Peter recently for the third annual Diocesan Evangelisation Day themed ‘You will be my witnesses’.

Led by Clare Ward (Home Mission Advisor at the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales) and Christian mime artist Steve Murray, attendees explored what it means to share the Catholic Faith as individuals and within a parish context. Steve presented mimes to complement Clare’s three talks entitled: Bearing Witness to the Father’s Love, Bearing Witness to Jesus, Our Saviour and Lord and Bearing Witness to the Life of the Holy Spirit. Both leaders shared experiences in their own lives which have helped them to discover the presence and grace of Jesus Christ. They emphasised that it’s these everyday stories, which every baptised person has, that can be used to give testimony to the Faith.

Participants were encouraged by the presence of Bishop Peter, whose ‘Walking Humbly' process very much encourages us to recognise and promote evangelisation as an essential characteristic of a Thriving Catholic Community.

The day included prayer, reflection and conversation as well as an opportunity to hear about initiatives that were taking place in the parish and elsewhere in the Diocese. Those present were invited to reflect on questions relating to their own relationship with God and also how they had shared their faith with someone else. One of the key truths emphasised was that we cannot share what we’ve not received- and that in giving to others, God will fill us with even more of his presence and gifts. A key visual image for the day was Rublev’s icon of the Holy Trinity.
